Software for Students of the University of Ulm

Students of the University of Ulm can obtain software for scientific applications on special conditions. The subsidisation is financed by student fees. The programs may be installed on your own computers. A list of supported software is listed below.

The software is also installed in the PC pools of the kiz. For more details visit PC-Pools or Software-Liste , respectively.

ASKnet Software-Shop of the University of Ulm

The Software Shop of the University of Ulm within the Academic Center of the ASKnet Softwarehouse gives students the opportunity to buy online some of the software which is subsidised by student fees. Students have to register in the shop once to be able to buy the software. To gain access to the shop an application including an enrolment receipt has to be send to the ASKnet. It is sufficient to photocopy the enrolment receipt on the application and to sign it. The application can be faxed or send to the ASKnet as an e-mail with the application attached as a JPEG. After receiving the registry dates you can use the shop.

ChemBioOffice Ultra 2010

Free campus licencesfor rent for ChemBioOffice Ultra or ChemBioDraw

ChemBioOffice Ultra 2010 for Windows or ChemBioDraw Ultra 12.0 for Macintosh are available for free as a download version and licences for rent until 1st October 2011. The software can be downloaded from the websites of Cambridgesoft after the registration with the university e-mail. Further information can be found under following link:

Maple, Computeralgebrasystem

1. Free usage of the network version

The network version of Maple 14 can be obtained for free either as DVD at the central service point O26/5101 or downloaded at the Asknet softwareshop of the University of Ulm. The network version of Maple can be downloaded from the University Services Portal. Login to the portal with your kiz-account. Click the menue point 'Download Software'. Choose the desired software to get the corresponding list of ISO images and installation instructions for download.

The network version can be used on the own computer if the computer has an iP address from the University of Ulm domain (134.60.*.*) and if the computer is able to connect to the licence server lm01.rz.uni-ulm.de. This is possible if the computer is logged in the wireless lan of the University of Ulm with a kiz account. From most student dormitories it is possible to log in into the university network. Otherwise a broadband internet connection is required and on the computer a VPN client of the University of Ulm has to be installed to be able to log in into the university network with the kiz account.

2. Maple Student licence for 20€!

The University of Ulm has bought Maple licences for Windows, Linux or Mac financed by study fees. At the central service point O26/5101 of the University of Ulm a Maple single user version can be purchased for 20€.

MathType, extended formular editor under Windows

Student license of MathType 6.5 for 10,00 € !

The University of Ulm has MathType 6.5 – licences available which are financed by study fees. The program allows the portation of formulae between different programs under Windows. Especially under Word and PowerPoint the generation of formulae is very comfortable and the further use of the formulae in latex, PDF and HTML documents as well as image documents is possible. Mathematica, Computer Algebra System

Student licence from Mathematica 7 for 20€!

The University of Ulm has Mathematica 7 licences available which are financed by study fees. The software including the licence can be purchased for 20€ at the ASKnet software shop of the University of Ulm.

MATLAB, scientific Software

1. Free Usage of the Network Version

The network version of Matlab can be downloaded from the University Services Portal. Login to the portal with your kiz-account. Click the menue point 'Download Software'. Choose the desired Matlab version to obtain the corresponding list of ISO images and installation instructions for download. The English installation instruction can be found in the file ending with '*Installation_en.txt'. Please note that you will also need the license file 'license.dat.txt'.

At the University of Ulm licences of the Matlab student version for Windows, Linux und Mac financed by study fees are available. The DVD can be purchased for 20€ at our central Service Point (O26, 5101).

In addition to the toolboxes included in the Student version, the MATLAB version for students of the University Ulm contains seven more products. These are: Bioinformatics Toolbox, Curve Fitting Toolbox, Data Acquisition Toolbox, Instrument Control Toolbox, SimMechanics, Simscape, Stateflow.

SAS

SAS Statistic Program Package for 20€ rent

There are yearly SAS rent licences of the country licence Baden-Württemberg available again which are subsidized by study fees.
These licences can be purchased for 20€ via ASKnet. The licences are valid until 31st July 2012.
